Qualifications:
- Are a fully qualified lawyer with a minimum of 10+ years post qualification experience, preferably with a law firm or in-house in the (re)insurance industry; experience in reinsurance laws, regulations and practices
- Meet the qualification requirement for registered compliance officer in Korea as stipulated under Article 26 of the Act on Corporate Governance of Financial Companies
- Excellent written and spoken English and Korean
- Strong communication, multi-tasking and cross-cultural skills
- Work independently and prioritize multiple requests and deadlines
- Provide high-quality, timely client service that is balanced with a clear focus on protecting the interests and reputation of the firm and adopt a pragmatic, solutions-oriented, consultative approach to problem-solving
- Prior experience in insurance matters & multiple jurisdictions an advantage

Responsibilities:
They are seeking a high caliber Legal Counsel to support Swiss Re’s Reinsurance business unit with primary focus in managing legal and compliance issues relating to the business and operation in Korea. In addition to applying deep technical expertise in the legal advice and execution of their core business and solutions in both life (L&H) and non-life business (P&C), the role also requires due application of oversight and steering in respect of corporate governance and compliance with external regulatory and internal compliance and governance requirements.
In this role you will:
- Provide legal advice guidance and support in relation to Swiss Re’s reinsurance business strategy across the business unit’s L&H, P&C divisions with primary focus on Korea’s business and operation
- Review, draft and negotiate contracts and legal documents for its core business and operations as well as Solutions during structuring, negotiation, execution and implementation phases
- Act as Compliance Officer of Swiss Re’s Korea branch
- Monitor legal and regulatory trends affecting relevant business areas with focus in Korea
- Facilitate cross functional teams (XFT) coordination of legal/compliance/regulatory issues and help to maintain and adjust the legal, compliance and regulatory framework and processes of Swiss Re and SRAL Korea in order to meet the legal, compliance, regulatory and internal requirements
- Conduct and/or arrange internal presentations and trainings on legal, compliance and regulatory topics with focus on Korea’s business and operations
- Support internal group projects and initiatives, as needed; provide timely and concise input to senior management and ensure adequate management reporting
- Instruct and manage outside counsel (as needed)
