Senior Legal and Compliance Manager
Qualifications:
- Holds a university degree and a relevant professional qualification, preferably Bachelor of Law or Juris Doctor, or equivalent paralegal qualification with relevant and related experience
- General understanding of compliance systems or programs and identifying compliance risks;
- General knowledge of data privacy, anti-bribery and corruption, anti-money laundering, and the like;
- Demonstrate ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, aptitude to develop sound judgment, capacity to multitask and to quickly develop expertise in new fields;
- Excellent working knowledge of the local legislative and regulatory framework, and of dealing with relevant regulators.
- Familiarity with relevant operational, financial and regulatory requirements.
- People leadership experience.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent organizational & interpersonal skills.
- Ability to build team rapport with a willingness to share knowledge.
- Ability to prioritize work and meet deadlines.
- Ability to multi-task under pressure.
Responsibilities:
- Timely and ongoing identification, assessment and communication of application regulatory requirements;
- Development and/or alignment, where necessary, of local compliance policies and procedures for use/reference by IQ-EQ employees;
- Development, documentation, and maintenance of a system of controls reasonably designed to achieve and oversee compliance with applicable regulatory requirements;
- Effective monitoring and oversight of day to day internal and external compliance activities throughout the business;
- Timely and accurate reporting to the relevant Board(s) and to Group on the overall state of compliance across the Unit(s).
- Maintain a level of expertise in corporate governance, regulatory compliance and related operational risk areas of focus, including a strong understanding of current industry trends and practices, effective risk measurement and management practices and emerging concerns
- Monitor and evaluate developments impacting the organization’s legal/compliance and related operational risk profiles through in-depth analysis of external and/or internal risk management reports and regular interaction with management
- Analyze and report on key legal/compliance and related operational risk metrics that support an overall assessment of legal and compliance risk and risk management practices
- Communicate effectively with staff and management on topics related to legal/compliance and related operational risk through periodic and ad hoc written and oral briefings
- Assess and identify potential key risks and mitigating factors to the business operations and organization (i.e, DOLE, PEZA, SEC, BIR, Immigration, Local Government Unit, Legal Retainers, etc)
- Produce reports or presentations that outline findings, explain risk positions or recommend changes
- Evaluate applicable laws and regulations to determine impact on organizational activities
- Periodical review of contracts with internal stakeholders and external vendors
- Provide effective oversight and governance of internal and external policies
- Ensure operating model for policy maintenance is followed and updated as required
- Manage, maintain and build relationship with government stakeholders to ensure that IQ-EQ Philippines compliance is achieved (i.e., DOLE, PEZA, Immigrations, SEC, BIR, Local Government Unit, Legal Retainers)
- Primary counsel or liaison with Labor lawyers in matters relating to Labor concerns and matters such as but not limited to conciliatory and mediation, labor relations cases, etc.
