Legal Privacy Counsel
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Law (LLB) from a recognized university.
- Qualified lawyer with 4-6 years of post-qualification experience (PQE) in privacy law.
- Strong knowledge and understanding of GDPR and European privacy laws.
- Prior experience advising on privacy matters, preferably in an in-house legal role or a reputable law firm.
- Fluency in English, both written and verbal, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with acute attention to detail.
- Proactive approach to staying updated with privacy-related developments and best practices.
- Professional certifications in privacy or data protection (e.g., CIPP/E, CIPM) would be an advantage.
Responsibilities:
- Provide legal advice and guidance on privacy matters, including data protection, information security, and compliance with privacy laws and regulations.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including data protection officer, IT and security professionals, and business stakeholders, to ensure privacy compliance within our organization.
- Train and educate employees on privacy awareness, policies, and procedures to foster a culture of privacy compliance.
- Develop and implement our privacy program including privacy policies, procedures, and practices that align with applicable privacy laws and regulations.
- Review and negotiate contracts, agreements, and data processing agreements to ensure compliance with privacy requirements.
- Conduct privacy impact assessments and assist with data breach response and incident management.
- Stay informed about emerging privacy trends, regulations, and enforcement actions, and proactively advise the organization on potential risks and opportunities.
- Conduct thorough legal research privacy laws which may impact our business and stay informed about emerging privacy trends, regulations, and enforcement actions, and proactively advise the organization on potential risks and opportunities.
- Liaise with external legal counsel, regulatory authorities, and privacy advocacy groups as required.
