Role:
Litigation Lawyer
Qualifications:
- Bachelors/Masters degree in law.
- Licensed to practice law.
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant litigation experience, with a preference for experience in the Indian education sector.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbally and in writing.
- Highly analytical with strong attention to detail.
- Outstanding negotiation skills.
- Strong understanding of Indian laws related to education, employment, and contracts.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities:
Litigation Management:
- Handle and oversee all aspects of litigation, including case strategy, discovery, motions, and trial preparation within the Indian legal system.
- Represent BIA in Indian court proceedings, arbitrations, and other dispute resolution forums.
- Collaborate with external counsel in India when necessary and manage external relationships effectively.
Legal Advisory:
- Provide legal advice and guidance to internal stakeholders on a broad range of legal issues, with a focus on Indian litigation matters.
- Conduct legal research to stay updated on developments in Indian laws and regulations.
Contract Review and Drafting:
- Review, draft, and negotiate contracts and agreements in compliance with Indian laws to mitigate legal risks associated with various business activities.
Compliance:
- Ensure BIA’s compliance with relevant Indian laws and regulations.
- Develop and implement policies and procedures to promote compliance and minimize legal risk in the Indian context.
Risk Assessment:
- Conduct risk assessments to identify potential legal issues specific to India and propose preventive measures.
- Advise on risk mitigation strategies to protect the interests of BIA within the Indian legal landscape.
