About:
Justice S. Rangarajan Legal Aid Fellowship is a three-month (extendable to six months) part time fellowship designed to provide first-generation law graduates with practical legal aid experience and mentorship in litigation. The fellowship is run by Indian Council for Legal Aid and Advice (ICLAA) at the Delhi High Court.
ICLAA, established in 1972, is one of the oldest legal aid organizations in India. Renowned legal luminaries like Mr. Justice Y .V . Chandrachud, Mr. Justice P N Bhagwat, Mr. Justice V R Krishna Iyer. Currently, Senior Advocate Sanjay Parikh acts as its chairman.
Qualifications:
- First generation law graduates with a 0-3 years of litigation experience;
- Demonstrated interest in human rights issues.
Responsibilities:
- Strategic advisory to litigants reaching out to ICLAA;
- Research on public issues relevant to rights based discourse;
- Partnering with grassroot organizations lacking legal support;
- Outreach planning in areas with inadequate legal literacy.
