About:
The LCIA is a pre-eminent international institution with a long-standing 130-year history. It plays a pivotal role in shaping the dispute resolution landscape and reinforcing confidence in arbitration. Disputes referred to the LCIA are managed by a sizeable and experienced Secretariat (comprising lawyers from, and qualified in, more than 10 jurisdictions) headed up by a Registrar and Deputy Registrar and under the leadership of the Director General and Deputy Director General.

Qualification:
The ideal candidate should have gained preferably 3 or more years’ experience working in international arbitration, have a keen interest in the area, and be able to demonstrate the following qualifications, skills and experience:
Essential
- Law graduate (LLB or equivalent, or above)
- Be a self-motivated team-player;
- Possess strong time management and administrative skills;
- Have numeracy skills and should not be fazed by numbers;
- Recognise potential risk and compliance issues at an early stage;
- Be able to work under pressure, proactively prioritise tasks, and multi-task;
- Have excellent attention to detail;
- Be able to communicate clearly and concisely, both in writing and orally;
- Be able to consider legal issues critically and with sound judgement;
- Approach cases in a practical, and not purely academic, way;
- Have analytical and evaluative skills;
- Have an organised approach to work;
- Be reliable, punctual and meet deadlines consistently;
- Take responsibility for their own actions and demonstrate drive and enthusiasm in everyday work;
- Recognise and suggest ideas for improvement in their own work and seek to solve problems independently;
- Achieve planned work and set own performance standards; and
- Be able to build strong working relationships both internally and with external stakeholders.
Desirable
- Experience in Africa and/or Middle East
- Arabic language skills
Responsibilities:
The Casework Team is split into two teams with the Registrar and Deputy Registrar acting as Team Leaders. Junior Counsel are appointed to a team and will report to the relevant Senior Counsel.
Junior Counsel will have a small number of cases allocated to them. In addition to this, Junior Counsel will support Counsel with the following tasks:
- Updating the procedural timetable in the internal case management system, as requested by Counsel;
- Covering and progressing cases when Counsel are on annual leave (or as requested), under the supervision of Senior Counsel.
