Qualification:
- A recent LLM or already qualified as a junior lawyer in any jurisdiction.
- An excellent academic background.
- Experience at some level of international arbitration ideally within a leading dispute resolution practice, chambers or other related organisation.
- Experience working on high value, complex international investment and/or commercial arbitration (highly desirable).
- A proven ability to understand and investigate complex technical matters and a desire to practice as a specialist arbitration lawyer.
- Full business proficiency in English; additional foreign language skills are highly desirable.
- The ability to write clearly and economically, to orally present a client’s case confidently, succinctly and persuasively, while maintaining accuracy and credibility with a tribunal.
- The ability to identify relevant lines of research, select appropriate sources and tools, and implement rapidly with appropriate levels of depth, care, and creativity.
- The ability to analyse complex legal and factual problems and to identify challenges and solutions to a client’s case, with a strong understanding of the substantive and procedural aspects of contract and treaty arbitration law and practice
- The ability to manage competing demands and work effectively to meet deadlines using commercially sound management practices that serve the best interests of the firm and its clients, ensuring exceptional attentional to detail in all work.
Responsibilities:
The role will involve working with partners and other colleagues across the firm on high value, complex international arbitration cases. Responsibilities will include:
- Conducting research, reviewing documents, drafting advice, correspondence and pleadings, gathering evidence and assisting with the preparation of witness and expert evidence, in relation to such proceedings.
- Assisting with advising and representing clients in, and in relation to, commercial arbitration, investment treaty arbitration and public international law matters.
- Liaising with clients, witnesses and experts, tribunals, and opposing counsel.
