Role:
Compliance & Ethics Counsel Specialist
Qualifications:
- Possess law degree and experience in legal contractual matters.
- Understand general basic corporate business practices and contracting regulations.
- Good understanding of data privacy principles and regulations required to assist and advise on data privacy issues in contracts.
- Strong written and communication skills.
- Understand company’s interests while communicating with executives at all levels of the organization.
- Demonstrate understanding of company’s approval processes and ensure that all stakeholders are timely engaged and informed on the relevant process.
- Understand basic negotiation skills
- Strong time management, prioritization and analytical skills; ability to work within tight deadlines.
- Proficient in English with strong oral and written skills and competent in delivering presentations.
- Efficient in conducting legal research on primary and secondary legal sources such as Nymity, LexisNexis etc.
- Display high level of responsiveness and follow through on commitments.
- Detail-oriented, organized, flexible and focused at all times.
- Advanced Word skills and collaborative work tools; skilled in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
- Able to work in a multi-cultural and diverse environment.
- Ability to foster good personal relationships within the team and across different areas and levels within the organization.
Responsibilities:
- Support to legal professionals, and business teams providing advice and review of contractual documents for procurement and client engagements from the data privacy perspective;
- Drafting of internal guidance materials, templates and training decks;
- Legal research on data privacy laws and regulations in jurisdictions at global level;
- Works independently with supervision.
- Generic Responsibilities
- Provide support to the Global Data Privacy team in connection with data privacy issues involved in procurement and client contracts;
- Provide support and advice with an overall aim to ensure compliance with data privacy requirements and corporate standards and policies;
- Participate in internal and external conference calls to provide support on data privacy related contractual matters;
- Follow legal developments in the area and perform legal research;
- Draft guidance materials and legal document templates for internal use;
- Provide training sessions or create training materials for other areas;
- Participate in required trainings and work sessions;
- Report to Global Data Privacy team and GLN Core supervisors and coordinators.
Specific Responsibilities Aligned to Role
- Provide support to legal professional and procurement, clients teams on queries related to data privacy laws, compliance requirements, country-specific regulations and contracting requests;
- Review of data privacy related clauses in supplier agreements and related documents, with special focus on EU model clauses and data transfer agreements;
- Provide advice on engagement of suppliers, subcontractors/sub-processors, clients personal data and required compliance mechanisms;
- Participate in internal calls with legal professionals and business teams to provide advice on data privacy related contractual matters;
- Participate in external calls with counsel and/or data privacy officers to provide support to contracting professionals on data privacy specific discussions;
- Follow and keep track of legal changes, news and developments related to data privacy laws at global level, and prepare internal materials and communications;
- Research country-specific data privacy laws and regulations and prepare reports;
- Draft guidance materials, legal document templates and training decks for internal use;
- Participate in required trainings and work sessions.
