About:
Ministry of External Affairs is responsible for all aspects of India’s relations with the world. It formulates, implements & presents the foreign policy of the Government of India. The main objective is to advance India’s national security & developmental priorities in a globalized and independent world. The Ministry of External Affairs is presently headed by Dr. S. Jaishankar.

Consultant (UN Issues)
Location:
Ministry of External Affairs (South Block/Jawaharlal Nehru Bhawan/Sushma Swaraj Bhawan/Patiala House/ISIL Building/CCS Building), New Delhi
Qualifications/Essential Criteria:
· The applicant should only be an Indian national.
· The applicant should ideally possess Doctoral/Masters’ Degree in International Relations /Law with one year’s experience as a Researcher/Consultant in the relevant field.
· Good communication skills.
· Good skills in English speaking and writing.
· Good knowledge in computers for preparing documents, presentations, datasheets etc.
· The applicant should not be more than 45 years of age as on the date of publication of application and should be in good health.
· Desirable: Work experience in Government of India may be preferred.
Responsibilities:
I. To regularly monitor and follow up of specific legal issues entrusted to the Consultant.
II. To undertake process liaison, coordination and examination of matters related to
- Various International treaties/consortium agreement which India is party to;
- UN related activities and conventions;
- Human Rights
III. To liaison and coordinate with Legal Department and Legislative Department, Ministry of Law and Justice as well as the L&T Division, MEA and other line Ministries.
IV. To provide legal advise on international law and treaties.
V. To prepare relevant Concept Notes, Issuing Notes, Draft Outcome Documents etc. on varied subjects. VI. To analyze legal issues and recommend course of action in the legal issues assigned. VII. Any other tasks assigned by the Head of Division
