Role:
Executive – International Compliance & Legal Liaison
Qualifications:
- Graduate Degree
- 3-5 years of experience in a legal, compliance or related role, preferably in-house.
- Qualified graduate and member of the Institute of Company Secretaries India
- Knowledgeable about substantive Indian legal frameworks applicable to the company, including Labour Laws, Shops and Establishment Act, Company Law under the GOI Industries Ministry.
- Familiar with required compliance and regulatory filings in India.
- Experience managing a calendar and meeting business-critical deadlines
- Knowledge of Google Suite
- Prior experience in a fast-paced and results-oriented environment
- Demonstrated ability to work independently on long-term projects with minimal supervision
Must-haves:
- Quick learner interested in gaining experience in US regulatory compliance but fully knowledgeable about Indian laws and filings
- Extreme attention to detail and accuracy
- Excellent judgment and the ability to discern when to ask for help.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Fluency in English
- Highly responsible, conscientious and deadline-driven
- Eagerness to learn about US-based compliance and licensing
Nice-to-haves:
- Experience coordinating cross-functional teams
- Business, finance, legal or related educational credentials
- Experience liaising with Government officials
- Prior experience in dispute resolution
Responsibilities:
- India Compliance / Administrative Company Secretary
- Advising on compliance requirements for the Indian subsidiary of a US multinational corporation.
- Maintain all required corporate filings.
- Assist legal team in ensuring operations are compliant with applicable laws.
- Provide time-sensitive support on an array of legal inquiries in connection with all aspects of our India operations.
- Implement efficient and streamlined negotiation and vendor management processes.
- Coordinate with outside counsel as necessary.
- United States Compliance Filings
- Maintain and track filing calendars for US business license registrations, brokerage and community solar compliance filings and bond requirements across states/jurisdictions.
- Identify filing requirements for Arcadia business and regulatory licenses and implement processes to ensure compliance.
- Gather required information from internal teams such as legal and finance.
- Prepare, triple-check, and submit forms to appropriate state agencies in accordance with regulatory deadlines.
- Coordinate with finance group to obtain information and facilitate payments required in connection with compliance filings and bond renewals.
- Manage external vendors to assist with filings.
- Legal Team Liaison
- Act as the India liaison for Arcadia’s US-based legal team.
- Point of contact for any requests from Chennai teams to request legal guidance on contracting, compliance, disputes or other matters where legal assistance is required or helpful.
- Maintain appropriate records as needed for United States diligence purposes and assist in creating and maintaining a “data room” consisting of key contracts, compliance materials and other documentation maintained in Chennai.
- Assist US legal team in coordinating with Chennai personnel and local outside counsel as needed.
