Qualifications:
- Superior ability to analyze, structure and negotiate all elements of the transactions described under this portfolio and should possess strong drafting skills.
- Strong interpersonal, collaborative presentation skills, along with the ability to communicate effectively and work with others at all levels of the organization (External Legal Counsels/Partners/Suppliers).
- Strong negotiating skills involving legal and financial/commercial and technological issues.
- An ability and skills to work across business functions, cultures and teams.
- Ability to work independently with no supervision under fast paced environment.
- Good knowledge in Corporate, Business, Civil, and Criminal Laws and keep abreast with ever changing legal and regulatory frame work. Good written, spoken and communication skills.
Must Have Technical / Professional Qualifications:
Must have a Law Degree from nationally recognized university, with a bar admission and good standing.
Working computer and IT familiarity with an ability to do legal research, develop and improve processes, and apply technology to the Legal Department workflow.
Must have 10+ years of post-qualification experience as an in-house legal counsel with reputed organization.
Responsibilities:
- LITIGATION MANAGEMENT & LEGAL NOTICES
Ensure Customer First Agenda by effective litigation/ dispute management in company’s best interest through superior business partnering and seen as a credible contributor to business and customer obsessed function. Timely evaluate and issue Notices as per business team requirement and keep informed business team. Reply Notices post critical assessment of the subject along with the business team. File complaints before the LEA / other enforcement agencies. Negotiations & Settlements.
- CONTRACT MANAGEMENT
Engage with the Leadership team periodically to understand the business requirements and draft necessary Contracts, SOP’s, Notices for appointment / Termination/Renewal of Vendors/Partners, etc Ensure there are no back foot situations and risks are identified and adequately covered in the interest of the business while performance of the contract.

Service Provider Agreements;
Channel Support Agreements,
Real Estate Agreements;
Network related Agreements;
Customer Service,
HR Related Agreements,

RFP, Bid, Tender, NDA’s, SLA’s, MSA & Deviation Note (RFP, Bid, Tender),Etc

For Eg: PRI (Primary Rate Interface – Landline);
Mobility (Varied Customer Services as per requirement);

- Ensure zero deviation from the standard contracts.
- Ensure Execution of the contracts as per DOA.
- COMPLIANCE, ADVISORY, MARKET VISITS & PROACTIVE CHECKS
CLHs should be seen as a ‘solution provider’ or a ‘trouble shooter’ “Crises Manager” in a pro-active manner which would help the Business Team in achieving the desired business goals.
- Work in close coordination with HR team on conducting statutory audits and employee related compliances and also effectively handle matters before labour Tribunals and Courts. Timely reporting of any employment law related issues at Circle to stakeholders.
- Report to the business head and corporate legal team immediately if anti-bribery or anti-competitive practices are adopted against the interest of the company.
- Engaging by structured periodical meeting with the Circle functions & CLT to identify new risk areas and develop proactive strategy and support Business targets.
- Keep the business team informed on any deviation reported in the circle.
- Visit distributors, associate distributors, retailers, customers along with the business team and identify the new practices and deviations in the market.
- Participate and Support All Department and guide them whenever there is a requirement of legal intervention without limiting to Police enquiries.
- Participate as management representative in all Critical committee workings as per HR protocol.
- LEGAL ADMINISTRATION
Deliver commercial value through effective circle litigation management-including reduction in numbers and fees thereby effective and optimal utilization of resources and budget at circle.
External network management and Budgeting : Continuous review and updation of the law firms/advocates at circle to provide cost effective, best in class in-house legal support through the following:
- Prepare standardized budget on discretionary expenses for circle in the following heads:
- Pending litigation expenses. (Agree on an average cost of per litigation).
- To identify and enable Outsourcing of non-value adding transactional work.
- Overall to ensure there are potential savings of discretionary expenses.
- Quarterly review of cost against budget.
- Ensure timely issuance of due payment notice(s) (penalties/claims) etc
- Ensure timely issuance of notices (defaults/breaches and reply notice in case of potential disputes/ disputes as per requirements of the contracts and agreements. c) Ensure provision of information if any required in the lis/disputes being litigated at court.

Researching and anticipating unique legal issues that could impact the business cunder the current portfolio and there by establish best practices.
