About:
The International Tribunal for the Law of the Sea (ITLOS) is an independent judicial body established by the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea. It has jurisdiction over any dispute concerning the interpretation or application of the Convention, and over all matters specifically provided for in any other agreement which confers jurisdiction on the Tribunal. Disputes relating to the Convention may concern the delimitation of maritime zones, navigation, conservation and management of the living resources of the sea, protection and preservation of the marine environment and marine scientific research.
Role:
Legal Assistant
Qualifications:
- Completed secondary education, seven years of relevant working experience; knowledge of, and training in, legal matters.
- Excellent knowledge of English or French and working knowledge of the other language.
- Full computer literacy.
Responsibilities:
- Assisting in drafting case-related and administrative correspondence;
- Assisting in preparing and organizing research materials and notes;
- Assisting in organizing hearings and preparing judicial records;
- Filing of legal and judicial documents;
- Formatting, editing, proofreading and producing a variety of
- documentation;
- Assisting in the gathering of legal documentation and the preparation of
- the publications of the Tribunal;
- Providing general administrative and office support;
- Performing other ad hoc duties as assigned.
