Legal Counsel – Compliance
Location:
Saket, New Delhi, India
Qualifications:
- A degree in law and legal qualification in India.
- High analytical capability
- Great communication and team collaboration skills
- Ability to influence and align stakeholders in other teams to drive results
- Fluent in English, both written and spoken
- Ability to handle multiple matters concurrently
- Able to work well both independently and as part of a team.
- Able to communicate well and work in a cross-functional team to achieve common goals.
- At least 5 years of legal experience, preferably with a multi-national corporation or a law firm or a combination of both with a strong understanding of corporate transactions.
- Sound understanding of the following areas of law – Commercial, Labour, Industrial, Environment, Consumer, Competition laws, Advertisement, Contracts, Information Technology, IPR, Privacy, Customs, Legal Metrology etc.
- Experience in drafting, reviewing and negotiating agreements
- Experience in handling litigation, liasing with Advocates/senior counsels and police.
Responsibilities:
As a Legal Counsel – Compliance , you will secure that the country business goals and actions comply with all relevant laws and regulations, secure best interests of the Company while negotiating contracts and handling litigation. Advise other functions on various legal matters.
The Key responsibilities are as follows:
Compliances
- Monitor, control and audit compliances for support office, regional offices and stores across India. This includes but not limited to HR (Labour Law) Compliance, local law compliance and commercial functions through implementation of proper systems, processes, trainings, audits etc.
- Deal with various statutory, regulatory, government and judicial authorities for seeking various approvals, permissions, registrations, licenses etc
- Evaluate the potential impact of current and future legal and regulatory environment on the operation of the organisation.
- Obtaining various statutory licenses for the Company/its stores and their timely renewal.
- Ensuring Product level compliances and legal research
Contract management and Litigation
- To support business functions in negotiation and finalization of contracts, signing of NDAs and POAs;
- Contract management through proper systems, processes and controls.
- Securing the business interests in all the ongoing and potential litigation/consumer/employee disputes/frauds etc
- Liasing with Police/ preparing materials for external legal counsel and manage these relationships to ensure the organization’s interests are well-represented
Other Legal Functions
- Evaluating new laws and driving implementation with relevant stakeholders
- Evolving robust legal and compliance SOPs for the organisation
- Training the stakeholders on various legal and compliance aspects.
