Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in law, business, or related field; a Juris Doctor degree is preferred.
- CIPP/CIPM/CIPT or comparable privacy certification would be considered a plus
- 5 to 8 years of experience in multinational corporations or law firm in the privacy field.
- Strong knowledge of US privacy laws and regulations (CCPA)
- Experience with developing and implementing privacy policies, procedures, and training materials
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong project management and organizational skills
- Ability to work remotely, be self-organized and self-manage own workload and schedule.
Responsibilities:
- Ensure the execution of data processing terms (DPAs) that comply with the GDPR, CCPA, and other data privacy and security laws.
- Maintain our form DPA. Ensure its use if we are the controller and the counterparty is the processor.
- Thorough markups of counterparties’ DPA forms. Consistent record of securing good DPA terms through written and oral negotiations, even when the counterparty has more leverage in the deal.
- Add a modern DPA to old agreements.
- Draft and maintain privacy notices in plain language for our customers and job applicants.
- When necessary, support and negotiate complex client facing privacy-related documents such as data processing agreements, data transfer agreements and data protection clauses.
- Ensure compliance with privacy laws, regulations, and industry best practices.
- Work with stakeholders across the organization to identify privacy risks and develop risk management strategies.
- Collaborate with the legal and information security teams to respond to privacy incidents and breaches.
- Stay up-to-date with changes to privacy laws and regulations and provide guidance to the organization on any necessary changes to policies and procedures.
- Work with external vendors and partners to ensure compliance with privacy requirements
