Professional Qualifications:
4-6 years of work experience is a prerequisite. Additional experience in one or more of the following would be preferred:
- Prior experience in work related to corporate image, issues/crisis management and strategic communications across the social/development and health sector.
- Prior experience working as a journalist.
- Exceptional media relations background with a demonstrated capacity to work with global business and key media to manage story development.
Educational Qualifications:
A Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Marketing, English, or a related field is preferred.
• A master’s degree is a plus, but not a requisite
Responsibilities:
This is the firm’s mid-level position wherein, the Manager, Policy Communications will support the various client teams with deliverables related to media and communications.
In this role, you’ll be expected to come up with and actively build relationships with key members of the media, and serve as a point of contact with them. You will leverage the capabilities and experience of senior Chase India team members and utilize your expertise and networks to manage and support communications-related deliverables. You will be expected to take ownership and operate independently (with senior team members to lean on for support).
The focus and mix of the work vary based on the needs of each client, but the work largely comprises the following:
• Monitoring and insights: Keeping track of changing media landscape and trends to share insights with clients to help them shape their policy communication strategies. Monitoring relevant news and ecosystem updates in the media for clients and sharing analysis and updates as needed.
• Communication strategies: In this role, you would be expected to work closely with, and support the client teams to develop communication strategies on issue-based advocacy campaigns that align with their client’s goals.
• Writing and content creation: You would also be expected to pitch notes, quotes, ghost-write articles, briefing documents, and other communication material, as required.
• Media Outreach and Engagements: You would be expected to identify relevant media outlets and journalists, pitch issue-based/policy-related stories to them and facilitate strategic engagement opportunities between clients and relevant journalists/editors.
• Relationship and network building: Along with building communication strategies, you would also be expected to execute the same. As such, you’d be expected to work continuously to build relationships with journalists, policy influencers, and other key stakeholders who can support your communications strategies.
