About:
The National Institute of Rural Development and Panchayati Raj (NIRD&PR), an autonomous organisation under the Union Ministry of Rural Development, is a premier national centre of excellence in rural development and Panchayati Raj. Recognized internationally as one of the UN-ESCAP Centres of Excellence, it builds capacities of rural development functionaries, elected representatives of PRIs, bankers, NGOs and other stakeholders through inter-related activities of training, research and consultancy. The Institute is located in the historic city of Hyderabad in Telangana state. The NIRD&PR celebrated its Golden Jubilee Year of establishment in 2008. In addition to the main campus at Hyderabad, this Institute has North-Eastern Regional Centre at Guwahati, Assam to meet the NE-regional needs.
Role:
Project Officer- Legal
Qualification:
- Bachelor’s degree in law (LLB) from an accredited institution.
- Preferably, a master’s degree in law (LLM) or a specialization in a relevant area of law.
- Knowledge of Mahatma Gandhi NREG Act will be given preference.
Experience:
- Minimum 05 years of prior experience as a legal officer, attorney, or in a related legal capacity, preferably within the public sector.
- Must be licensed to practice law.
Responsibilities:
- Assist the Government representatives in legal proceedings, including administrative hearings, arbitration, and court cases.
- Prepare legal briefs, pleadings, and other court documents.
- Draft, review, and revise various legal documents, including contracts, agreements, policies, and legislative texts.
- Provide legal advice and opinions to government officials and departments on various legal matters, including administrative law, labor law, constitutional law, and regulatory compliance.
- Advise on potential legal risks and suggest measures to mitigate them.
- Analyze laws, regulations, and legal precedents to provide accurate and timely legal advice.
- Develop and update legal guidelines, manuals, and other resources for use by government departments.
- Advise on preparation of RFP, Tender Documents, RFQ, etc.
- Coordinate with other legal professionals, both within and outside the government,
- The role involves travel for court appearances, meetings, or training sessions
