Role:
Senior Legal Associate
Qualifications:
- Education and Experience: bachelor’s degree in law (LL.B or equivalent) and a valid license to practice law in at least one jurisdiction. A master’s degree or relevant post-graduate qualifications will be advantageous. Minimum 5 years of experience in legal roles, with at least 3 years of experience in a leadership capacity in a multinational company.
- Global Legal Expertise: Strong knowledge of international business law, corporate law, commercial transactions, and regulatory frameworks across different countries.
- Team Leadership: Proven track record of effectively managing and leading legal teams in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Venture and Digital Experience: Prior experience in a digital and venture-based company will be highly valued, as well as familiarity with legal issues specific to the technology and digital sectors.
- Excellent Communication: Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex legal matters in a clear and concise manner.
- Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills: Strong analytical skills and the ability to think critically to identify legal risks and provide effective solutions.
- Adaptability: Demonstrated ability to thrive in a constantly changing environment and manage multiple projects and priorities effectively.
- Language Proficiency: Fluency in English is essential, and proficiency in other languages will be an advantage, especially if required for communication with consultants in various countries.
Responsibilities:
- Legal Coordination: Serve as the central point of contact for legal matters and liaise with consultants based in various countries to ensure efficient and effective coordination of legal activities.
- Team Management: Lead and manage a team of legal professionals, providing guidance, mentorship, and support to ensure high-quality work and professional development.
- Compliance and Risk Management: Oversee compliance with local and international laws and regulations, identifying potential risks, and implementing strategies to mitigate legal exposures.
- Agreement Drafting and Review: Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of commercial agreements, including but not limited to contracts, partnerships, licensing, and other business arrangements.
- Entity Setup: Assist in the establishment of new entities or business structures in different countries, ensuring legal compliance and efficient operations.
- Dispute Resolution: Handle legal disputes and litigation matters, working with external counsel when necessary to protect the company’s interests.
- Legal Research: Stay updated on changes in laws and regulations in various jurisdictions, providing legal advice and guidance to internal stakeholders as needed.
- Policy Development: Develop and implement company-wide legal policies and procedures to ensure consistency and best practices across all operations.
- Intellectual Property Protection: Advise on the protection and enforcement of intellectual property rights, including trademarks, copyrights, and patents.
- Collaboration with Other Departments: Collaborate with other departments, such as Finance, HR, and Operations, to provide legal insights and ensure legal compliance in their respective areas.
