IT for Change aims for a society in which digital technologies contribute to human rights, social justice and equity. Their work in the areas of education, gender, governance, community informatics and internet/digital policies push the boundaries of existing vocabulary and practice, exploring new development and social change frameworks.
Role:
Senior Researcher
Qualifications:
- A PhD/Masters’ degree including but not limited to, development studies, public policy, economics, gender studies, political economy studies, and other allied degrees
- 5-7 years of demonstrable research experience, of which at least 3 years in a team lead / supervisory position
- Experience in working on social and economic justice issues in the digital / platform economy using intersectional approaches that integrate development theories, critical gender studies, feminism, and other lines of inquiry
- Strong analytical writing and publication experience in relation to economic analysis of digital economy related issues
- Ability to respond to policy developments and produce research briefs in a quick-footed manner
- Expertise in empirical data collection and analysis using statistical tools
Responsibilities:
- Supervising a team of researchers towards managing project deliverables
- Carrying out independent research with field partners, and developing written outputs from research initiatives, including reports, academic articles, media pieces, and explainers
- Managing multi-partner / stakeholder relationships
- Anchoring donor co-ordination and documentation requirements, compliance, and M&E tracking for the project
- Inputting into and supporting policy consultations and other national and global advocacy opportunities in the domain to influence norms development
