Role:
Commercial Counsel
Qualifications:
· Law degree from a reputable university in India
· Qualified Company Secretary will be preferred.
· 10 years of relevant legal experience – combination of top-tier law firm experience, and in-house commercial legal position in an international company preferred.
· Experience in food, biotechnology or life science industries considered a plus.
· Sound judgment and discretion.
· Fluency in English language is mandatory.
· Collaborative and able to adapt to multiple competing priorities.
· Strong oral and written communication and interpersonal skills demonstrated through interactions with team, clients and third parties.
· Ability to engage proactively across a broad range of client groups.
Responsibilities:
· Review, draft, and negotiate a high volume of stand-alone commercial contracts.
· Provide legal transactional support to various businesses, advising on legal considerations and risk mitigation strategies in connection with preparation and review of legal agreements.
· Embedded member of a business team, participating in development of, and directly impacting strategic decisions for your business
· Direct strategic initiatives for your business through effective counseling on global commercial challenges facing health, food, flavors, and fragrance markets.
· The ability to spot and collaborate with legal subject matter experts and other legal colleagues is critical.
· Handling litigation and disputes with third parties and statutory authorities.
· Attend frequent calls with internal business clients and maintain strong working relationship with both internal clients and external counterparts.
· Engaging with cross-functional teams and matrix partners (e.g., Regulatory, Quality, Operations, Procurement, Trade Compliance, Communications) to drive agendas and effectively communicate complex information in clear and concise terms.
· Partnering with the Regulatory and Compliance functions to ensure policies and standard operating procedures are fit-for purpose.
· Managing outside counsel in limited circumstances
