Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in law from a recognized institution.
- Registered Patent Agent.
- Having 10 plus years of exhaustive work experience practicing patent law, preferably in a law firm or corporate setting.
- Strong understanding of patent laws and regulations.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
- Proficiency in conducting patent searches using online databases and other resources.
- Experience with drafting and prosecuting patent applications in various technical fields.
- Knowledge of international patent laws and procedures is a plus.
Responsibilities:
- Draft and negotiate various IP agreements with external parties.
- Conduct patentability searches and analyses to assess the novelty and inventiveness of inventions.
- Draft patent applications in accordance with applicable patent laws and regulations.
- Prepare responses to office actions and other communications from the Indian Patent Office and international patent offices.
- Conduct patent validity and infringement analyses.
- Indepth knowledge on Standard Essential Patents (SEP), SEP negotiations, claim mapping and related works.
- Advise on patent strategy, including portfolio management and enforcement.
- Provide legal opinions on patent-related matters, including freedom-to-operate and non-infringement opinions.
- Assist in patent litigation and dispute resolution proceedings.
- Independently manage and oversee the IP department, which may include patent attorneys, IP analysts, IP engineers, IP paralegals and business stakeholders.
- Independently manage the Company’s IP portfolio, which could include patents, trademarks, copyrights, trade secrets, and other forms of IP.
- Stay updated on developments in patent law and industry trends.
- Reports to Head of Legal.
