Job Summary:
- This role will involve working closely on all legal compliances, licenses and registrations as applicable to the business operations of the Company, its group companies and subsidiaries.
- The scope of this role will include but not limited to due diligence of properties, negotiating lease deeds and facilitating registration, making application for licenses and registrations as applicable to the Company’s business, liaison with regulatory authorities, police, law enforcement officers, handle inspections and show cause notices from regulatory authorities, attend hearings and ensure effective representation and protection of the Company’s interest. This role will be a hands on role and will involve a fair amount of travel within India.
Job Responsibilities:
- Assist in property due diligence, negotiating, executing and registration of lease deeds.
- Make applications and secure licenses applicable to the business at a particular location including but not limited to Trade License, Food License, Shops and Establishment License, Factory License and other applicable licenses.
- Maintain a repository of lease deeds and licenses and ensure timely renewals.
- Manage inspections from regulatory authorities including but not limited to food authorities, legal metrology, factory inspector, pollution control board, liaison with government authorities, police department/ officials on Company related matters.
- Draft response to show cause notices as received from regulatory authorities, represent to Company in hearing before authorities, strategize with the Legal Head and external advisors on filing appeals, matters relating to license cancelations and other matters.
- Such other tasks, assignments as may be assigned by the Legal Head.
Qualifications And Experience:
- Law Degree from recognized university in India or a common law jurisdiction.
- Willing to work in a fast paced environment, with at least 7-8 years post qualification experience having previously dealt with Drug/ Food authorities.
- Excellent command of both spoken and written English and Hindi. Knowledge of Kannada or any additional language will be an advantage.
- Strong drive and commitment to deliver results. Work closely with other members of the Legal team. Ability to handle multiple assignments in different locations.
- Excellent interpersonal, organizational and analytical skills.
