Duties And Accountabilities:
- Work on complex investment arbitration disputes administered by ICSID and other international arbitration institutions.
- Analyze, systematize, and unitize information.
- Draft arbitration briefs, witness statements and expert records.
- Research procedural questions related to arbitrations.
- Utilize specialized research databases for arbitration.
- Research questions in preparation of partners’ speeches and presentations.
- Prepare for and participate in the ICSID hearings.
- Conduct factual research and background checks on fact and expert witnesses, arbitrators and potential arbitrators.
- Utilize knowledge of foreign legal systems to support teams in successfully representing Firm’s clients before international tribunals.
- Draft case or legal memoranda, or statements of issues involved in cases.
- Communicate with partners and associates regarding case management and procedural requirements.
- Keep abreast of changes in the law.
- Telecommuting may be permitted up to 2-3 days per week. When not telecommuting, must report to White & Case LLP at 701 Thirteenth Street NW, Washington D.C., 20005.
Qualifications:
- J.D., L.L.M., L.L.B., or U.S. equivalent in Law.
- 3 years of professional experience at an international law firm providing legal advice to foreign sovereigns and private companies regarding commercial arbitration and international investment dispute before tribunals constituted under ICSID or ICC.
- Must also have experience with the following special skills: 3 years of professional experience providing legal advice to parties on procedural issues regarding the international arbitration process; 3 years of professional experience reviewing and processing documents filed by parties; 3 years of professional experience with the case administration procedure of commercial arbitration and investor-state arbitration; 3 years of professional experience drafting, researching and reviewing legal memoranda, motions, briefs, witness statements and expert reports for litigation in the U.S. federal or state courts
- Must be admitted to practice law in a U.S. or foreign jurisdiction.
Location & Reporting:
- Telecommuting may be permitted up to 2-3 days per week. When not telecommuting, must report to White & Case LLP at 701 Thirteenth Street NW, Washington D.C., 20005.
