Maharashtra Common Entrance Test for Law or MH CET Law is a state-level law entrance exam in Maharashtra. State CET Cell, Maharashtra conducts MH CET law for admission to 3-year LLB and 5-year LLB programmes offered by the law colleges in the state of Maharashtra. A total of 147 law colleges accept MH CET law scores.

Eligibility Criteria For The Exam
Candidates seeking admissions to five-year integrated LLB courses through MH CET Law need to fulfil the following eligibility criteria:
- Candidates must be Indian citizens
- They should have passed the Senior Secondary School Examination/ Intermediate Examination/ 12thBoard Examination from any recognised educational institution under the state board or national board of education.
- Moreover, they must have secured 45% marks in aggregate in the qualifying exam.
- If belonging to SC/ ST category of Maharashtra state, then the minimum marks required are 40% as per relaxation in aggregate marks.
- As per the age limit criteria, candidates should be at least 20 years old at the time of admission. However, in case of candidates belonging to OBC, SC, ST categories of Maharashtra state, the age limit is 22 years minimum at the time of admission.
Candidates seeking admissions to three-year LLB courses through MH CET Law need to fulfil the following eligibility criteria:
- The candidates must have passed the graduation exam in any discipline.
- Candidates appearing in the qualifying exams in exam year may also apply.

Application Process For The Exam

Use only genuine and verifiable information for filling the MH CET Law application form:
- Exam officials verify every piece of data entered by the candidate at the time of MH CET Law counselling process; note that document verification is a part of the counselling process.
- Candidates who clear the document verification process are eligible for participation in the next stage of the admission process, like seat allotment.
- However, if a candidate is caught fudging date, he/she will be disqualified.
How to fill MHCET Law application form?
- Registration – The first step in the MHCET Law application process is registration, wherein the candidate will have to create an applicant account. In the MHCET law registration form, enter your name, father’s name, mother’s name, contact details and other personal details. On successfully entering the information, a new account will be created with a unique login id.
- Uploading the documents – The candidate will have to next upload a photo and signature as per the specification outlined in the table below.

- Filling the application form – In this step fill in your personal, educational details, and contact details. You will also be required to select an exam centre from where you wish to take the exam from.
- Fee payment – In the last step of the application process, the MHCET Law application form fee has to be paid using an online mode: credit card, debit card or net banking.

Exam Pattern
- The exam will be conducted in an online computer-based mode (CBT) across the country.
- The exam duration is 120 minutes, which does not include reporting time.
- Reporting time mentioned on your hall ticket is provided so that you reach the center 30 minutes before the exam.
- Candidates will have the option to choose the medium of the exam, whether Marathi or English.
- Total number of questions will be 150, wherein student will be awarded 1 mark for every correct answer.
- The exam has no negative marking, so the candidate can attempt all of the questions without the fear of losing any marks. The exam difficulty level will be comparatively lesser for MH-CET 5-year LLB than 3-year LLB.

Cutoff For The Examination
The Maharashtra State CET Cell will release the cut-off for admission to 3-year LLB and 5-year integrated courses offered by participating law colleges. Candidates who meet the cutoff rank (or score) will be eligible for admission, while the rest will be disqualified. Note that the cutoff is the minimum marks (or rank) one needs to secure in one’s category for admission. To prepare MH CET Law cutoff, the following points will be considered
- The program applied for admission (3-year or 5-year LLB)
- The seat intake for the program
- Total number of candidates who have registered for MH CET Law counselling
- The merit rank of the candidate in MH CET Law
- Category under which admission is sought (General or SC/ST, etc.)
Counselling Process Of The Examination
The counseling process of MH CET law is known as the Centralized Admission Process (or CAP). The counseling is currently being conducted in online mode separately for the 3-year and 5-year LLB programs. For the 3-year LLB program, there are 147 participating institutes, with the seat intake standing at 16, 420. The 5-year LLB program has an intake of 10, 920 seats at 132 approved colleges.
The MHCET Law counselling process is explained in brief below:
- Registration– Eligible candidates need to register for counselling online, enter their choice of colleges and pay the counselling fee.
- Document verification– The admission committee will e-verify uploaded documents and the information entered by the candidate at the time of filling the application form. Only such candidates who successfully complete the verification process will be considered for the next step.
- Publication of Alphabetical Merit List– The merit list will include the names of candidates shortlisted for the counselling and seat allotment process.
- Submission of grievances– Any candidates who have any objection against the merit list are allowed to challenge it.
- Publication of Final Merit List– The final list will be published after making any corrections to the provisional list after considering objections by candidates.
- Allotment of seats – Finally, seats will be allocated by considering the MH CET Law merit rank of the candidate, and college options picked at the time of counselling registration.
How To Prepare For The Examination?
- Start Early– For any examination, the candidate must start preparing for the same in advance. There is no set pattern developed to prepare for the exam. For preparation, online material and books are readily available. So, the students can start the preparation 6-months in advance.
- Follow the Exam Pattern– Candidate must be thorough with the exam pattern. Knowing the pattern will help you in taking a step further than others. It is of utmost importance that candidates be aware of the number of questions and weightage. It will help you in strategizing the study plan. This will you will have an idea of the time taken.
- Mock Tests and Sample Papers– After giving the mock papers, a candidate comes to know where he is scoring less and where he is getting a good score. This analysis will help him to devote more time to weak sections and comparatively less time to strong subject areas. Master your skills and then move forward. Candidates can further gain confidence after solving mock tests and practice sample papers after the completion of the syllabus. However, the candidate can download the MH-CET Law Sample Papers online. Solving these papers will help you manage time, and you can be sure of clearing the entrance.
- Time Management– Candidates must make a proper study plan by giving equal time to each section. The focus should be on reducing the time consumed per question. Time management is the key to crack any examination along with proper preparation. Try to solve as many papers as you can to limit the time per question.
At the time of preparation, you must be acquainted with your weaknesses and strengths. Strategize in such a way that you can polish your strong subjects and even focus on the weak subjects. All you need to do is work out a plan that suits you the best. Customize the time-table and strategize your study plan, based on your college – routine or other commitments.
