“The Indian Law School” (remember when Amitabh Bachchan said Gurukul that deeply?:P)- As it is, The most matchless and exciting academic experience there can be! Agreed or not? The one that could prove to be really enormous and intense due to its tasks and obligations, nevertheless it is possible to thrive in an Indian law school with the right mindset and approach. The first year of Indian law school is full of both difficulties and growth opportunities. Regardless of all the difficulties, there still exist possibilities to sustain and have the correct mindset and approach that leads you to thrive with glory in Indian Law School. So, in our article today, let us read some of the important steps and tips that offer guidance for our first-year Indian law students.
1. Do Not Forget to Take a Note
Let’s start with Taking Notes. It stands really important that you take notes, of each and every lecture that you be present in, any kind of seminar or conference you get a chance to join in and be a part of, all the workshops that you would go to, each and every piece of information in that educational video which you caught sight of and was relevant to your field of knowledge. Just without fail and always do grab a notepad and pen before you head towards them all. Try to give this small tip utmost importance and take my words to heart.., this piece of advice will manifest its significance in the moment of need!
2. Just Be PRESENT and also Be PRESENT!-
It is imperative to be present there not only physically but mentally present too, and take an active role in all scheduled academic sessions. Attending and participating in all of your classes is a must!
Attendance sounds boring though, but wait!, will you trust me on this!?, being all ears & all-attentive, in your first-year classes is the biggest tip I can offer to you in this article. Constitutional Law, Contracts, Torts and every delightful and equally helpful from now to way ahead kind of topic of the legal area gets covered in the very first year of your law school, and you just can’t afford to miss this fun. Sounds exciting now? See I told you to trust me !:)
3. Do you want that “The Extra Punch of Brownie Points”?-
Yes? Then let’s go ahead with, Workshops, Webinars/Seminars, Lectures, Symposiums, Boot camps, Conferences, Quizzes, Certifications, Training, Test prep courses, Diplomas and so much more that are out there offline (physical) and are available online (virtual) too. Proving them to be the biggest givers of that extra punch of brownie points to your knowledge in total. Why would you ever want to miss it anyway!? Don’t you want to stand out from that crowd (look around you in your class) crawling over and sticking to the syllabus only?
4. Breakthrough, Be Unconventional & Be You
No matter how unconventional and divergent your very own created and new practices may seem. Could be very different from what others may be doing, but it is extremely important to be bold, unafraid and brave regardless of that matter, and always have the willingness to experiment and try new strategies and approaches to pave your very own and unique path ahead in the legal field.
5. Time-Out, Pause, Reflect & Review
Not necessarily each one of you would be equally happy and satisfied with their choice of joining a law college, which you might start realizing halfway through your initial year journey, in case you are
feeling unfulfilled, then it becomes crucial that you place a high value on, and prioritize your personal well-being, and take the time – out that you need, to consider various alternatives and other available options. Keep reminding yourself that success can be achieved in different ways ☺ But do consider the potential consequences!
