IIT Kharagpur LLM Eligibility Criteria
Candidates who wish to seek admission for LLM) program offered at IIT Kharagpur shall have passed the minimum eligibility criteria as mentioned below:
- Must have passed with a minimum of 60% aggregate marks or CGPA 6.0 in Bachelor of Laws LL.B. or B.L. (5 years) program from any recognized University.
- Must have passed with a minimum of 60% aggregate marks or CGPA 6.0 in Bachelor of Laws LL.B. or B.L. (3 years) program from any recognized University along with Bachelor’s Degree (not less than 3 years) in Humanities/ Science/ Commerce or equivalent.
- Students that have LL.B (Hons.) in Intellectual Property Law from the IIT Kharagpur with CGPA of 8.5 or above are eligible for admission.
- 5% relaxation in qualifying examination marks is provided for SC/ST/PWD candidates.
IIT Kharagpur LLM Admission Guidelines
- Admissions to IIT Kharagpur LLM degree is Merit-Based.
- Candidates need to appear for CET (Common Entrance Test). After IIT Kharagpur declares the result, the institute invites qualified candidates to participate in the counseling process.
- The final seats are provided to candidates based on their qualifying examination marks, performance in CET, and personal interviews.
- The weightage given to the admission test is 70% and the interview round is 30%.
- Candidates who will be allotted admission seats shall visit the college for document verification and confirmation of the admission seats.

Candidates seeking admission in the IIT Kharagpur LLM program can apply by following the below steps:
- Visit the IIT Kharagpur official website @iitkgp.ac.in.
- Register using email ID and phone number.
- Now, log in using a user ID. Fill the application form thoroughly with all the correct details.
- Candidates are also required to upload their essential documents as prescribed in the application form.
- Candidates shall submit the application fee of INR 3000 while the application fee for candidates belonging to the reserved category is INR 1500.
IIT Kharagpur LLM Entrance Exam pattern 2022
The entrance exam for the LLM program is based on a Computer-Based test (CBT). Candidates qualifying for the CBT are called for the final interview rounds. The admission test for the LLM program consists of questions on law based on the BCI-approved LLB syllabus only. There is no negative marking in the examination. Marks allotted for both CBT and interview rounds are as follows:
LLM – entrance test consists of two stages –
(i) Computer Based Test (CBT)- 70%
(ii) Personal Interview (PI)- 30%
The Computer based test (CBT) will have multiple choice questions approved by the Bar Council of India. Candidates appearing for the written exam must score a minimum of 35% marks to appear for the PI round. Candidates shortlisted on this criteria will be called for the Interview round. The final selection of the candidate will be based on Interview round only.

IIT Kharagpur has revamped its Training and Placement cell to Career Development Centre (CDC). The institute conducts pre placements training and recruitment drives for final year students. Annually over 1500 students are placed with reputed companies and a good salary package.
