About:
From a small beginning as a purely advisory body, the IBM has emerged into a premier national organisation involved deeply into the various aspects of the mineral industry.
The current functions of IBM include promoting conservation of mineral resources by way of inspection of mines, geological studies, scrutiny and approval of mining plans and mining schemes, conducting environmental studies and environment related activities, evolving technologies for upgradation of low grade ores and identifying avenues for their utilisation, preparation of feasibility reports for mining and beneficiation projects, preparation of minerals maps and National Mineral Inventory of minerals resources; providing technical consultancy services to mineral industry and functioning as a data bank for mines and minerals, and preparing of technical and statistical publications.Headed by the Controller General, IBM has six technical divisions with its head quarters at Nagpur. There is a Modern Mineral Processing Laboratory and Pilot Plant established with the assistance of United Nations Development Programme at Nagpur. IBM has 4 Zonal Offices, 13 Regional Offices, 2 Regional Ore Dressing Laboratories and Pilot Plants spread over the Country. The IBM offices are located at Ajmer, Bangalore, Bhubaneshwar, Kolkata, Chennai, Dehradun, Goa, Guwahati, Gandhinagar, Hyderabad, Jabalpur, Raipur, Nagpur, Ranchi and Udaipur; and the Pilot plants & Ore Dressing Laboratories at Ajmer, Bangalore and Nagpur.

Law Officer
Qualification:
(a) Applicant should have Full time three years bachelor’s degree in law (LLB) OR 05 years integrated LLB degree with minimum 50% marks or equivalent CGPA course from Bar Council of India recognized Institute/College/University.
(b) Applicant must have been registered as an Advocate with the Bar Council of India/ State Bar Council in terms of Advocate’s Act, 1961.
(c) Applicant should have been a practicing advocate with minimum 3 years’ experience before any Court of Law in India and having working experience of minimum of 2 years as a legal professional with any PSU/Govt. department or with a large private organisation post minimum qualification of LLB.
(d) Applicant should be fully conversant with practice and procedure in all Civil Matters before Courts including Arbitration, Labour Laws, Company Law and experience in drafting of Petitions, Applications, Affidavits, Memorandum of Appeal Contract/Services Agreement & other related matters etc.
(e) Applicant must have excellent written and oral communication and interpersonal skills, knowledge of computer applications such as MS Word, MS Excel, Power Point etc. are essential.
(f) Preference should be given to the applicants who have experience as an advocate in the supreme court/high court in the matters related to Mines and Minerals industry or working with legal department of a mining PSU /Govt. dept/ Large Pvt Company.
Responsibilities:
Law Officers are expected to perform the following duties/functions:
(a) Tender legal opinion on the issues coming before the department. Prepare parawise comments on all OAs, Writ Petitions, SLPs, PILs filed against the department and forward to the concerned Standing Counsel after approval of the Competent Authority for drafting counter affidavit.
(b) Scrutinize the counter affidavit received from Counsel with reference to the parawise comments. (c) Perform such other work of legal nature, as may been trusted from time to time.
(d) Maintain the list of pending court cases in the department.
(e) Monitor the pending court cases.
(f) To assist and be present in the court at the time of hearing.
(g) Further, the law officers should be in sound health (Both physically and mentally), and should be of impeccable integrity.
(h) The law officers shall also assist the department in any policy decision/matters as and when required by the department.
(i) Shall deal with the Court matters including cases involving legal issues for examination and recommendation of appropriate action to be taken by the Competent Authority.
