About The Job:
As a member of Google’s Government Affairs and Public Policy team, you’ll be part of a diverse global government affairs team, working across regions, product areas, and functions. You’ll combine creativity and intellectual excellence with the organizational skills to manage various campaigns, projects and initiatives. In this role, you’ll advocate for Google to bring external perspectives back into the company to inform our perception and direction. You’re passionate about the opportunity to shape the future of how we use and build technology for everyone.
In this role, you will help shape various product and issue agendas with policy makers inside and outside government. In addition, you will help advise our internal teams on the public policy implications of products, working with a closely coordinated and cross-functional global team. You will expertise in working with or in government, politics, or a regulatory agency as well as an ability to grasp complex technical and policy issues.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and lead public policy campaigns across the full range of policy areas that impact Google and the web.
- Engage directly with politicians and policy makers.
- Build a network of trade associations, industry partners, non-profit groups, and others to support policies that will help create/maintain a user-focused online environment as well as an open Internet.
Minimum qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience
- 10 years of experience in government, regulatory agency, politics, or corporate or public interest agency
- Ability to speak and write in English fluently
Preferred qualifications:
- Experience working within national politics, government, think tanks, public interest groups, or the field of corporate public policy
- Experience working in high-impact environments and a proven ability to exercise judgment
- Broad policy experience and knowledge in privacy, intellectual property, content regulation, telecommunications, and/or online safety
- Excellent communicator with outstanding presentation skills, and the ability to write well and translate complex issues into simple language
- Team player who can work with a broad range of backgrounds and experiences, including to lead campaigns and mentor members of the team
