INTRODUCTION
Copyright law grants exclusive rights to artists and writers for their works in the fields of art and literature. Copyright is one of the kinds of Intellectual Property and can be held by either an individual or an organization. Copyrights are not generally required by law to be registered, but the creator has the option to do so. As a result, even if the work is not registered, it is protected by copyright laws. Copyright legislation in India dates back to 1847 when it was enacted during the East India Company’s reign. The then-Indian legislature enacted a new Copyright Act in 1914, which extended to India most of the provisions of the UK Copyright Act of 1911. The 1914 Act remained in effect until the 1957 Act took effect. Later, the 1957 Act was amended numerous times to incorporate significant changes.[1]
